Nancy Gaudet is the compassionate force behind Type One Families, a community-driven initiative dedicated to supporting families navigating the complexities of Type 1 Diabetes. Based in Plymouth, Massachusetts, Nancy combines lived experience with a passion for advocacy, education, and connection. Inspired by her own familyβs journey, she created a safe space where parents and caregivers can find understanding, emotional support, and practical guidance. At the young age of 9, Nancyβs son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Along with the many medical and caregiving questions, she realized how isolated a parent can feel as they try to find their new path forward. In an effort to find a supportive community, Nancy created one, instead.
Nancy is known not only for her leadership but also for her genuine heart, bringing hope and visibility to a cause that touches thousands. Her dedication to helping families from the day someone is diagnosed, through the daily challenges of managing care, has grown Type One Families into a trusted resource throughout the South Coast of Massachusetts.
Leveraging her background in community outreach, Nancy has established peer support groups in Lynnfield (Northern, Mass.), Hanover (Southern, Mass.) and Cape Cod. Through innovative awareness campaigns, strategic community partnerships and direct outreach, her work has impacted hundreds of families. Her work is rooted in empathy and empowerment, helping families feel less alone in their journey.
