Cape Cod Chamber & Plymouth Area Chamber Lead Regional Economic Development Initiatives

Plymouth, MA – March 15, 2025 – The Cape Cod Economic Development Council, Inc., a collaborative effort between the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, has been officially designated as a Regional Economic Development Organization (REDO) by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This designation positions the Council as a key driver in advancing sustainable economic growth, workforce development, and community resiliency across Southeastern Massachusetts.

The Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, as a strategic partner, has outlined an ambitious regional economic development plan that aligns with the REDO’s mission and objectives. Key initiatives will include:

·        Strengthening Workforce Development by partnering with local trades and higher education institutions to establish apprenticeship opportunities, develop a robust talent pipeline, and launch a centralized workforce resources website to connect employers, job seekers, and training providers.

·        Business & Community Support Initiatives to further engage and support local businesses, the Chamber will host Non-Profit Round Tables to assess community needs and deepen cross-sector collaboration. Volunteer surveys will evaluate the philanthropic interests of local businesses, and volunteer fairs will help align these resources with organizations in need.

·        Strategic Partnerships & Advocacy and the Chamber will continue to collaborate with municipalities to represent the voice of local business in large-scale development projects. Notable successes include ongoing work with the Town of Plymouth on the redevelopment of the Holtec site, and with the Town of Kingston on the Sacred Heart High School property. These partnerships demonstrate how thoughtful public-private collaboration can guide impactful redevelopment.

·        Future-Focused Development is a key initiative as part of its long-term strategy, the Chamber will explorer and identify opportunities to optimize key development parcels that will support growth, innovation, and economic resilience.

“These initiatives reflect our deep commitment to not only supporting our existing business community, but also ensuring we’re building a strong, adaptable regional economy,” said Amy Naples, Executive Director of the Plymouth Area Chamber. “Through collaboration with our partners at the Cape Cod Chamber and other regional stakeholders, we are laying the foundation for sustained, inclusive growth.”
